Conservate Straight Talk

Like George Will did with Kelo, he's again spot on with his views of the the Supreme Court's upholding of Oregon's physician assisted suicide law. As I've long said, activist judges are only activist when they rule against what the GOP wants. When they overturn public law that the GOP wants gone, then that's somehow ok. Its not the value, its the result that matters. I'm glad at least one conservative hasn't lost his mind, or given up his values.

They're social conservatives who ruled right on the wrong case. Looking at the Controlled Substance Act and Ashcroft's miles-over-the-line comments, the majority ruling is a no-brainer. But physician-assisted suicide, however much a state licensing issue, rates more all-around skepticism than the parameters of the Oregon case allow. Not your point, I know, but here's one I've been itching to make and haven't had the time to: There oughta be a euthanist. Too rough a day to elaborate; more when I'm cheery.
