Makes you want to punch that polar bear right in the kisser

Is there a "regime change" coming to UAE? The AP says that the UAE had links to Binny. Given that suspected high level talks between Binny and Iraq were one of the reasons for the invasion (and one of the few left), doesn't this mean that UAE is also a threat to the US? If so, book your trip to the indoor ski resort before its too late, and sell you private island.

From the Saturday NYT:

At an appearance in Florida, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrat of New York, who was highly critical of the deal in a hearing on Thursday, said she was "very pleased" by the announcement by Dubai Ports World, a government-owned company in the United Arab Emirates. But she added that the United States should not "cede sovereignty over critical infrastructure like our ports" to foreign companies.

A senior official of Dubai Ports, Michael E. Moore, said in an interview that the firm planned to close the $6.85 billion deal next Thursday, but that lawyers were working on a way to "segregate" the American operations.

Pressed about how the operations would be separated, Mr. Moore said that "it is not a big stretch for us, because we planned to retain the management team" currently operating the port terminals.

Those officials are employees of Peninsula & Oriental Steam Navigation Company, a British concern. Nonetheless, after the deal closes P&O, as the firm is known, will be a legal subsidiary of Dubai Ports, even if it operates at arm's length, as the Dubai company says it will.

At the White House, the press secretary, Scott McClellan, said that President Bush remained determined to see the deal go through, but that "a slight delay would be helpful in that regard."
