Steve Horner wants no friends

Apparently attempts to draw large amounts of inebriated women to one location deeply offends Mr Horner, and he's mad as hell and he's not taking it anymore. So Mr Horner filed suit to stop "ladies night" at bars in Colorado.

Why? Well legally its because he's being "discriminated" against. Funny, I didn't know that bitter, women hating divorcee was a protected minority. But the real reason? The article says that Mr Horner has "been on an anti-feminist crusade since his wife left him with two young children several years ago." Yes, clearly the feminist ideal that Gloria Steinem envisioned was, in fact, half-price drinks for ladies at bars across America, all the better if a wet t-shirt contest is thrown in. Well done Mr Horner, you've struck a direct and devastating blow against feminism! What will Ms Steinem do now that feminism has been set back so? (As a side, my bet is that Ms Steinem was no big fan of "ladies night," potentially throwing this into the upper reaches of the comedy scale.)

At the risk of putting words in Mr Horner's mouth (and also at the risk of killing the comedic genius of such mighty calls to arms as, "I will now make it a point to visit as many ladies nights as I can every week. I'll have my rights violated, then I'll sue them in county court and collect my $500 (the maximum penalty in county court for each incident of discrimination)...I feel it could net me $3,000 to $4,000 a week easy, and I'm going to do it"), I think he means that he's been on an "anti-women" crusade since his wife left him several years ago. Why anyone would want to leave such a fun loving guy is a real mystery.

Now ladies night may be a thing of the past (I think a bigger hit that the smoking ban). Soooo, to summarize, in the era before Mr Horner, ladies night meant that women got half-priced drinks, men got to hit on drunk women, and the world was a happier place once a week. Mr Horner, doing his best to bring back the He-Man Women Hater's Club, felt that this was an abomination, sued, won, and now ladies night is at risk. Wow, what a guy. He doesn't like ladies and has now ruined a good thing for all those who do. That's it, I hereby revoke his "guy" card. Revocation of said card means that guys everywhere are free to wedgie, wet willie, and titty twist (aka "Purple Nurple") Mr Horner at will, with the addition of a maximum of one swirly a week.

Lest we think he's done, Mr Horner adds, "It takes me five minutes to be discriminated against." Yes, and five seconds to sound like a complete idiot.

Steve isn't the best debater on the logic train. Check out his comments he posted on my blog after I commented on him:

Having visited the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis last year, and having walked with dozens of people silently absorbing the details of that harsh period of our history, I would NEVER toss around the words “discrimination” and “civil rights” around at such a frivolous issue as “ladies night” down at Drinky’s Tavern or wherever. It’s as innapropriate as our watering down of the word “Nazi” for use as a pejorative descriptive term.

I’d be more sympathetic if he TRULY felt his rights were violated. Instead he unabashadly admits to “picking a fight” with bars and clubs for financial gain. He's not a male Gloria Steinem, nor a valiant gladiator for helpless women being loaded up and hauled off for free drinks.

In 1993 he made local headlines after filing a complaint with the Minnesota Human Rights Department, claiming establishments that sponsored "Ladies' Nights" were committing gender discrimination. Two years later, the practice of offering free admission or lower drink prices to female bar patrons was banned. The publicity soothed his restless search for meaning like a tab of Prozac. Horner was hooked--a heavyweight champ oiled up for his next fight.

In February 1996, he filed a human rights complaint against Hooters Restaurant at the Mall of America after the manager refused to hire him as a waiter. When Dolores Fridge, then-deputy commissioner of the Human Rights Department, didn't respond favorably to the complaint, Horner began a campaign of harassment against her on the phone. "I was just trying to incite her to enforce the law," he says in his own defense. The Ramsey County District Court didn't see it that way, and Horner ended up with a 30-day sentence on three gross misdemeanors and one count of harassment. "The lawyer I hired wasn't worth a damn," Horner proclaims. "She just fell into line with the dyke prosecutor, who was nothing more than a bitch with balls."

Update: now in March, 2008, Horner is going after the Colorado Rockies professional baseball team, for having occasional "Ladies' Games" where 5,000 cheap tickets are given to women. Apparently, Horner asked for one of the tickets, was denied -- DUH -- and took it to the Colorado version of the ACLU.

What a four-star pathetic whining loser.

Steve Horner is a hero. What is wrong with some of you people? The feminist thing has gone wayyyyyyyyyy overboard. Women are favored in every single thing in life. Academics, scholarships, sports, jobs. You name it. It's a pitiful thing when any man lets a woman run all over him without a fight. Grow a set, will you guys?

Women are favored in every part of life? Seriously? No wonder you think the guy's a hero if you're blind/stupid enough to think that's the truth. FYI-Feminism opposses Ladies' Night. So Stevie is just as out of touch with reality as you seem to be.
