Hey Muscles, this is why I was a seller
White House says it will abide by Geneva Conventions, it just wants to rewrite parts of it. It's the equivialant of the singing statement on the anti-Torture law he signed. "Sure, the US will abide by the Geneval Convetions, Congress is just going to unilateraly re-write parts of it to suit our desires."
I'm willing to wait and see how this develops, but so far this stock is plummeting.

The administration is courting the Supreme Court, not the World Court--and sensibly so. Barring a globe-spanning terrorist catastrophe, it's all Massachusetts to Mr. Bush: can't win; won't try.
Stick to the script: what's needed, when it's needed. They're an ideologically disciplined bunch, perhaps for better (if credit's due for being safe at home since September 11), but more clearly for worse (Patriot Act, Iraq).
The question was, did I think Bush was serious about his words on abiding by the Geneva Convetion. I was a seller on that idea and, so far, it looks like I was unfortunately correct.
As far as World Court v. Supreme Court, I agree that W needs to do right by us and US. However, there's another voice that needs hearing on this, the military. And they're overwhelming in their support of the Geneva convetion. But why should the White House start listening to the military now?
